# Elastic Block Store

## **EBS in AWS stands for Elastic Block Store.**

Think of it like this:

* You have a laptop (that’s your EC2 server).
* But your laptop needs a hard drive to store games, photos, and homework.
* EBS is like that hard drive, but instead of being inside your laptop, it’s in the cloud.

Here’s why it’s cool:

1. Elastic – You can make it bigger or smaller when you need more or less space, just like adding Lego pieces to a Lego box.
2. Block Store – It stores your stuff in little blocks, like Lego bricks, so you can build (or rebuild) your data easily.
3. Always there – Even if you turn off your “cloud laptop” (EC2), your EBS “hard drive” still keeps your stuff safe.

Cloud = The giant invisible playground where both live ☁️
